Working with the environment

As a company Scotts Australia has for many years actively worked towards producing products for the home gardener that are environmentally sound while still providing the results gardeners expect.

Preserving waterways

Controlled and slow release fertilisers release nutrients as plants need them, reducing both the volume of fertiliser required and the amount wasted - up to 60% of traditional lawn fertilisers end up 'down the drain'.

Added organics improve soils

Organics in the garden improve soil quality, texture and microbial activity while reducing the amount of green matter going into landfiill. Whether it's making compost or using a fertiliser with organics, the benefits to the environment are many.

Dedicated to a beautiful world

The act of gardening provides a physical, emotional and spiritual outlet for tens of millions of people worldwide.

Scotts is in the business of helping consumers create and enjoy their own outdoor space and we believe there is no better business to be in.

Everywhere, we see our work reflected in the world around us through healthy lawns and beautiful gardens. It doesn't matter whether your garden is a cottage garden on a quarter acre block, or a few pot plants on a balcony.

Scotts products, services and information contribute

  • to the beauty of your home
  • to the health of the environment
  • to the fulfillment of your creative passions

We are focused on how our product designs, formulations and packaging processes impact the environment. Many of our innovations have improved the environment by decreasing waste emissions and lessening the potential for runoff.

Our product development includes multiple reviews to ensure safety to people, plants, animals and the environment.
Our planning also incorporates the recovery, recycling and reuse of materials that might otherwise be headed for the waste stream.

New Lawns & Repairs

The sure way to fertilise new turf

Use Lawn Builder New Lawns & Repairs when laying new turf or when establishing a lawn from seed. This fertiliser contains patented time release buffered nitrogen which is safe for tender young grass plants. High phosphorus levels encourage strong root growth.

Make your own compost and mulch

Recycling garden and household green waste into compost and mulch not only reduces the volume of 'rubbish' that ends up in landfill, it also helps nourish the soil by returning back to it nutrients taken up by the plants you grow. Adding an organic fertiliser to the compost bin or heap boosts the process.

Kill weeds without poisoning soil

Did you know that herbicides containing glyphosate, unlike many other weed killers, will effectively eradicate weeds without leaving any nasty residues in the soil? Diluted or ready-to-use glyphosate readily decomposes into harmless compounds when exposed to air and moisture - once the weeds are dead, it's safe to replant.

Grass is good!

Well maintained lawns in public and private gardens cool the environment, reduce air-borne pollutants, release oxygen back into the atmosphere and help absorb and deaden excess noise. Drought and heat tolerant grasses have made lawns 'acceptable' again!

'New' technology = safer insect control

New technology employed in the manufacture of home garden chemicals (micro-encapsulation and highly efficient, stable and low toxicity chemicals) means the amount of insecticide in a product can be greatly reduced without the product's efficiency being compromised.
