In And Around Your Garden - Early Spring 'action'

Hello $db.getFIRSTNAME(),

It's time to blow away the last of the 'winter cobwebs' as sunny, milder days entice us outside. A few hours a week in the garden now will bring rewards you can enjoy throughout spring and summer - lots of flowers, green lawns, and fresh fruit and vegetables!

Best wishes

Want to be a garden trend-setter?

It helps to be part of a worldwide organisation! Our northern hemisphere colleagues tell us that 'colour' is flooding back to gardens.

Pots, tubs, window boxes and massed beds of brilliant flowering annuals have been all the rage over the northern summer, with demand for seeds, seedlings, pots and potting mixes going through the roof!

From experience, we know that what's hot in the northern summer tends to be just as popular here in Australia the following summer.

So, be up with the very latest in gardening - plant or sow lots of annual colour this spring, to enjoy yourself and get the neighbours talking!

Browse the Virtual Flowers Australia Annuals A-Z guide to plan your blaze of summer colour and set your new plants up for success with a controlled release fertilising program.

Osmocote potting mixes

When you want the joy of a garden - vibrant colour as well as vegies and herbs - but space is limited, gardening in pots, tubs and hanging baskets is the answer.

But take care. Results will depend on the quality of the potting mixes you choose.

Look for the Standards Australia 'ticks' - black for standard grade and red for premium grade.

Osmocote potting mixes are of the highest quality - red tick approved.

OsmocoteŽ Premium Potting Mix feeds your plants for 5 months. It contains Osmocote controlled release fertiliser, wetting agent and added absorbent coir to retain more moisture.

OsmocoteŽ Multi Purpose Potting Mix is an economical mix that feeds for 3 months. It contains Osmocote controlled release fertiliser and wetting agent.

Both mixes are suitable for indoor plants, shrubs, flowers, palms, fruit trees, vegetables and herbs, but not recommended for use for phosphorus-sensitive Australian native plants.

Scotts Lawn Builder

Scotts Lawn Builder™ fertilisers take the guesswork out of keeping a lawn healthy and vigorous all year.

Just two applications of Lawn Builder each year in cooler areas, or three in sub-tropical regions, provide sufficient nutrients to encourage strong, intertwining growth that will deter weeds and keep lawns thick and lush.

Regular rainfall over the past months has seen lawns come back to life, but regular feeding is essential to their ongoing wellbeing.

Lawn Builder products are designed for specific lawn care needs from feeding lawns in good or poor soils, to controlling weeds and lawn pests, and even for nurturing new lawns or repairing established lawns.
