Why Osmocote® controlled release fertiliser
is good for the environment

Back

Greater efficiency - lower impact on the environment

Unlike so called 'green' fertilisers - organic blends and standard granular fertilisers - Osmocote® controlled release action requires smaller quantities of fertiliser to provide

  • optimum plant benefit
  • up to 97% less nitrate pollution

Which not only saves you money but benefits the environment.

Did you know... ?

Micro-organisms fed with Osmocote® have been used in pollution cleanups, such as cleanups in Antarctica and the Arctic cleanup of the Exxon Valdez oil spill.

Years of research have provided the greenest solution, a fertiliser that releases nutrients only as the plant requires them. This means virtually all of the nitrates released are absorbed by the plants and leaching is almost non-existent.

Apart from providing excellent, controlled feeding for plants, there are other environmental advantages of Osmocote®.

  1. With Osmocote® products, there is almost no nutrient run off to waterways.
  2. Much less fertiliser is required, so fewer resources are used in manufacture and transport.
  3. Osmocote® products feed soil micro-organisms that are vital to plant health.
  4. Osmocote® products promote earthworm populations.
  5. Osmocote® is applied just twice a year, saving time, money and effort.

Osmocote®'s environmental credentials

A 'greener' Australia will boast

  • vigorous healthy growth
  • cleaner waterways
  • healthier soils

That’s good news from Scotts for the next generation and the generations to come.

And it's a natural outcome of our dedication to a beautiful world.
