Roundup science note
Roundup and your garden environment?
Roundup® is completely biodegradable, breaking down into natural products in both soil and water.
Any Roundup® that makes its way to the soil, sticks very tightly to the soil and will not move off the treatment site.
Micro-organisms then break down the ingredients in Roundup® into naturally occurring compounds.

Well-fed garden plants can outcompete weeds.
Fertilise your plants with an Osmocote® controlled release fertiliser, then cover the soil with mulch.
Which Osmocote®?
Use Roundup® Concentrate on all weeds and unwanted grass, or as a stem injection to kill unwanted trees and woody weeds.

Quick facts
Roundup® Concentrate's active ingredient is 360g/L glyphosate, present as isopropylamine salt.
It also contains sophisticated surfactants that make it work very efficiently.
|
When to use
Best results are achieved when plants are actively growing in spring and autumn. Very hot, very dry or very cold conditions will reduce effectiveness.
Don’t use if rain is expected within 2 hours.
How to use
- Dilute the concentrate according to instructions on the peel-out label. The standard dilution rate is 10ml per litre.
- Only mix up the amount required to complete the job.
- Do not store mixed up solution for more than five days.
- Use a sprayer to apply the herbicide evenly to the leaves.
Persistent weeds may need follow-up applications.
Why Roundup® Concentrate is so useful
Diluted according to instructions this herbicide kills weeds right down to the roots without poisoning the soil.
Roundup® is taken up through the leaves and moves in the sap flow throughout the plant. It stops the production of proteins so that the plant starves. This process is found only in plants.
Low toxicity
Roundup® has extremely low toxicity to humans, pets and wildlife.
Its impact on the environment has been extensively tested. Read the Health & Safety information about Roundup® at the Roundup® information site.
Sizes
Available in 250 ml, 500 ml and 1 litre containers.
As a general guide, 1 litre of diluted product will treat 10 square metres of grass.
Be aware! Roundup® Concentrate is non-selective.
Do not allow spray to drift onto ANY plants or grass that you do not want killed. Roses, in particular, are very sensitive to spray drift.
