Roundup kills plants from the inside-out

Getting the best results with Roundup®
How Roundup® works

Back

What is Roundup?

  • Roundup is a non selective weedkiller based on glyphosate.
  • Glyphosate blocks photosynthesis so Roundup's action applies specifically to plants.
  • Roundup is a systemic action weed killer that is absorbed by the leaves of plants and degrades in soil so that new plantings can be made the day after spraying.

Systemic action

Spray Roundup

Spray Roundup on unwanted plant

Roundup is sprayed onto the plant's green leaves.

Weed absorbs & circulates

Weed absorbs Roundup and circulates through system

The plant's sap system carries Roundup to the growing points of the roots and shoots.

Weed dies

After a few days, plant is completely dead - roots and all

Roundup kills plants from the 'inside-out' therefore the effects can appear to be slow but will be very thorough.

What to expect

Typically, the youngest leaves or shoots turn yellow about one week after treatment, then the rest of the plant turns yellow or brown and dies.

The time taken for the symptoms to develop will be dependent on several factors, such as the type of weed being treated, the time of year and speed of growth.

Grasses will always show effects before other plants.

Watch our short video for a quick demonstration of how easy it is to control weeds and unwanted plants with Roundup®.
