FOUR top tips for Autumn lawn care

Back

As the weather mellows in Autumn, it's time to give the lawn some attention.

Regular rainfall or regular watering may make lawns lush and green, but it takes effort to keep them that way.

Here are four things to keep in mind when you are planning your Autumn lawn care program.

Scotts® EvenGreen Spreader

Feed your lawns the easy way

Scotts® provides a range of spreaders that makes it easy to fertilise lawns and control weeds. Find out which spreader is best for your needs.

Autumn lawn care - 1, 2, 3, 4

Dad and child enjoy their lawn
  1. Don't lower the mower cutting blades just because the grass is growing well – the roots need plenty of growth on top to keep them healthy.
  2. Aerate the lawn - roots need oxygen too! Use a stout pronged fork or an aerating machine that removes plugs.

You can hire an aerating machine for around $100 a day - share it with your neighbours to maximise usage and minimise cost.

  3. Feed your lawn. If your lawn has not been fertilised since spring or early summer, feed now with Lawn Builder™ Regular to provide nutrition through to spring.

    Use a Scotts® spreader

    • to distribute the fertiliser evenly
    • to ensure an even green lawn with no unhealthy surge growth
  4. Deal with weeds. If broadleaf weeds are a problem, consider using Lawn Builder™ with Weed Kill to eliminate them.

Remember, DO NOT use this formulation on buffalo grass, including Sir Walter, carpet grass, Santa Ana couch or lawn substitutes like clover, dichondra or lippia.
