Roundup science note
Roundup and your garden environment?
Roundup® is completely biodegradable, breaking down into natural products in both soil and water.
Any Roundup® that makes its way to the soil, sticks very tightly to the soil and will not move off the treatment site.
Micro-organisms then break down the ingredients in Roundup® into naturally occurring compounds.

The sure way to fertilise new turf
Use Lawn Builder New Lawns & Repairs when laying new turf or when establishing a lawn from seed. This fertiliser contains patented time release buffered nitrogen which is safe for tender young grass plants. High phosphorus levels encourage strong root growth.
Kill the weeds
- Kill off all grass and weeds with an application of Roundup® Concentrate several weeks beforehand.
- Dig the soil over, water and wait for germination of weed and grass seed.
- Reapply Roundup when the area has a light covering of seedlings. This will remove a lot of the weed and grass seed from the seed-bank in the soil.
Prepare & fertilise the soil
- Cultivate the area deeply to break up compaction. Avoid using a rotary hoe on clay soils as it can destroy the soil structure.
- Incorporate organic material and sandy loam (if required) into the existing soil. Never place new soil over existing soil without blending the two.
- Add a pre-planting fertiliser such as Scotts® Lawn Builder™ New Lawns & Repairs.
Prepare the area for turf or seed
- Level the area.
- Water gently but well.
- Select a grass that suits your area.
- Lay the turf or spread the seed.
- Keep the new lawn area moist until the lawn is established.
Enjoy your lawn!
