Dry soil or potting mix can become water repellent.
Soil wetting agents work by reducing the surface tension of water so that it can be absorbed into soil or potting media.
Hydraflo2® helps to ensure that water is easily and uniformly absorbed into the soil or potting mix and not lost to run-off. It also allows more moisture to be retained in the soil or potting medium while still maintaining an ideal soil-to-air ratio in the root zone.
Because Hydraflo2® is uniformly distributed, all surfaces of the soil crumbs can absorb more water, thus allowing better water retention while still keeping essential air pore spaces clear.
Advantages of Using a Wetting Agent like Hydraflo2®
More efficient use of water
- Watering is needed much less often.
- There is less run-off of water so there is less wastage.
Better outcomes for your plants and lawns
- Deeper and more uniform moisture penetration promotes deeper, stronger roots.
- Uniform wetting promotes more efficient uptake of fertiliser.
- Because free drainage is maintained, Hydraflo2® also helps prevent water-logging in pots or in soil during heavy rainfall.
Better outcomes for the environment
- Free drainage inhibits surface moss, algal growth and soil borne diseases.
Special advantages of Hydraflo2®
- There is no need to water Hydraflo2 in immediately - except on bent lawns. You can wait for your next watering day to water it in.
- Its soil wetting effects are long-lasting.
- Its granular formulation makes it very easy to apply to pots, garden beds and lawns. No mixing is needed.
- It can be easily applied to lawns with a Scotts spreader to help prevent dry spots - spreader settings are on the bag
- It contains Osmocote® Controlled Release Fertilizer so that plants are receiving top quality nutrients at about the same rate as they can absorb them
So there are good reasons why gardeners should be using a wetting agent or ensuring that they select products that contain a wetting agent like selected Scotts® products.
